With lockdown restrictions beginning to ease this month, schools across the UK are finally able to welcome students back to their classrooms after months of closures.

With school trips still unable to take place, however, you might be wondering how you can bring the wider world into your classroom and increase your students’ understanding of global citizenship.

At African Adventures, we are passionate about increasing young people’s knowledge and understanding of international development.

That’s why we’ve put together a free resource area for teachers to enable you to bring a touch of Africa into your classroom. These resources are suitable for students aged 13+, and can be used in a range of lessons including Geography, English or Citizenship.

Our resource area includes:

Fun, informative quizzes

Kick-start your lesson with our fun-filled, informative quizzes on Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar, or put your students’ knowledge to the test with our multi-country quiz!

A Day in the Life

In this lesson, your students will be introduced to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 of Quality Education, as they learn about the daily lives of the children who attend our partner schools in Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar.

Flood response

This lesson aims to increase young people’s understanding of the challenges to development in Africa. This section explores the impacts of El Nino flooding on developing countries, and looks at barriers to education for young people in Kenya.

Promoting Quality Education for All

In this lesson, your students will gain a deeper understanding of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) as they learn about education in Kenya. They’ll also be encouraged to consider how they can help to promote the Sustainable Development Goals in their daily lives.
