This year will be our biggest Christmas Meal Appeal to date as we provide more children with a special Christmas meal and festive party at our partner schools in Kenya and Ghana.
Christmas is a time for joyous festivities with family and friends, but for many children at our partner schools, this is not the case. Many families in Kenya and Ghana cannot afford to put food on the table and their children go to school on an empty stomach.
Through the Christmas Meal Appeal, we want to fill our partner schools in Kenya and Ghana with festive joy by giving delicious Christmas meals and festive parties to many of the children who attend so they can celebrate Christmas like any other child.
It costs just 50p to provide a Christmas Meal to a child, which they can enjoy with their classmates.
We spoke to our Trip Hosts, students at our partner schools and their teachers to find out what our Christmas Meal Appeal means to them.
Valentine, Headteacher at West End Academy
“Thank you so much for last year’s Christmas Meal Appeal; it was really successful, as we fed so many children. In our community, most children come from humble backgrounds, and most of their families cannot afford Christmas. But here at school, when the children come together for Christmas, they are really happy and appreciate what we are doing in their lives. They feel like somebody cares, and we are grateful for that. Thank you for putting a smile on our children’s faces.”

Elvis, age 12, The Walk Centre
“I enjoy having Christmas here at school with my friends as we are unable to celebrate Christmas at home with food.”
Ruth, Trip Host
“We are really grateful for everything that our volunteers and supporters do to bring smiles to the children’s faces, especially the support shown towards our Christmas Meal Appeal. One of the things that makes it impactful is the chapattis. Chapattis are a really special meal, and the only time the children get them is during Christmas. The Christmas party brings love and creates a bond as it brings the children together. Most of these children are from broken families and don’t get to enjoy the feeling of being a part of something at Christmas.”
Cynthia, West End Academy
“We don’t celebrate Christmas at home, but we do at school. At Christmas, we get to eat Chapattis, rice and meat.”
Wisdom, Trip Host
“The Christmas meal and party means the whole world to the children at our partner schools. They get to have the same joy and happiness as any other child.
Last year, when we threw the Christmas party at Ungana Academy, the parents came with their children so they could personally thank the school and African Adventures’ supporters for the Christmas Meal Appeal, as it is something their children look forward to every year.”
Roberta, Woe EP Teacher
“Normally, at lunchtime, many children won’t eat as they are unable to bring in food from home, but when it is the Christmas Meal Appeal, all the children get to eat together and are very happy.”

You can donate to our Christmas Meal Appeal here, knowing that every penny will be spent on food provision and Christmas parties for the children.
Asante Sana (thank you) for your support and a Merry Christmas from all at African Adventures Foundation.
