Happy New Year to all of our adventurers!

2020 is set to be an exciting time, especially if you’re aged between 16-19. The start of a new decade offers you the chance to think about what you want to accomplish in order to make this pivotal period of your life the best – and most memorable – it can be.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed about where to start – you’re in luck. We’ve made a list of suggested ‘New Year’s resolutions’ to help you do just that.

Make it your resolution to… explore somewhere different

On our Zanzibar Youth Development Programme, you’ll get the chance to visit Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

A typical New Year’s resolution is to travel more. Whilst going on a few weekend breaks may provide you with a bit of light relief from your daily routine, experiences such as our Youth Development Programme will allow you to explore the beautiful continent of Africa whilst contributing to meaningful volunteer work. What’s more, you’ll get the opportunity to experience the ‘wild side’ of Africa with one of our exciting adventure activities. This decade has been dubbed the roaring 20s after all…

Make it your resolution to… learn a new skill

Teaching is a big role reversal for many of our volunteers, but certainly a worthwhile one.

When you combine travelling with volunteering in an ethical, mutually beneficial way, the potential to develop a new skill is huge. Our Youth Development Programme offers you a choice of two volunteering roles – Building and Renovation, or Teaching and Multi-sports Coaching. Each of these offer a realm of benefits in terms of the practical skills you’ll learn. You’ll also gain in personal development through spending time in such a different environment. Who knows, with so much potential from just one trip, there’s even a chance that you could fulfil more than one of your New Year’s resolutions at once!

Make it your resolution to… meet new people

You’ll meet so many new people – from the UK and beyond.

One of the best things about our Youth Development Programme is that it offers you the chance to travel with other like-minded people from across the UK. We take care of pretty much every element of your trip for you, so you can focus on having the best experience, and making new friends, whilst being supported by our trusted and experienced team.

Make it your resolution to… create positive change

All of the work which you’ll do will have a positive impact on the local community.

The volunteering work you’ll do on the Youth Development Programme will be allocated according to the needs of our partner projects. You won’t be completing work for the sake of it; instead, your time in Africa will be spent contributing to change which is wanted by our partner projects, and which will have a huge impact on the people who attend them every day.

If these resolutions sound like something you might want to try this year, why not consider booking onto one of our Youth Development Programmes to Ghana, Kenya, or Zanzibar in summer 2020? Find out more on our website.
